Weekly Round Up June 3

It was the week of the Jewish festival of Shavuot. We saw from our transcripts that several of our interviewees arrived in Auschwitz and other concentration camps during that festival, includingIbolya Ginsburgand her family. Here is her terrible memory of that day:

We were very sad to hear of the death of our intervieweeDr Gertrud Friedmann. Gertrud spent the war in hiding with her family in Slovakia. Her stories of lucky escapes, near-capture, living in forests and under assumed identities are vivid and compelling testimony.

We looked at the letter sent by the UK Home Office to JohnFarago's mother announcing the release of John's father from internment on the Isle of Man in 1941:
