What Next for Holocaust Education, Research and Remembrance in the UK?
Commissioned by the Association of Jewish Refugees (AJR), the UK’s leading dedicated funder of Holocaust education, What Next for Holocaust Education, Research and Remembrance in the UK? is a landmark review of the sector’s achievements, challenges and future priorities.
Led by Ben Barkow CBE and Clementine Smith, the research draws on insights from more than 50 experts across 26 organisations, alongside an evaluation of AJR’s Educational Grants Programme, which has supported projects reaching over 123,000 people since 2023. While highlighting the sector’s considerable strengths and expertise, the report identifies opportunities for greater collaboration, shared learning and more consistent measurement of impact.
Launched at AJR’s Remembering & Rethinking 2026 conference, it sets out practical recommendations to strengthen partnerships, address gaps in provision and help ensure Holocaust education remains effective, accessible and relevant for future generations.
