Before the Second World War my father, Shia Gumpricht, his parents and his six siblings lived near Danzig (now Gdańsk) in Northern Poland. Following the German invasion the Nazis murdered most of his family with only himself and one of his sisters, Regina, surviving the Holocaust.
In 2004 my Father spoke to me for the first time about his older brother Aharon who was born in 1918 with downs syndrome. Through his tears he asked, ‘What would those b*******s have done to him?’ This haunting memory has stayed with me and was the inspiration for this emotive documentary.
