Remembering & Rethinking 2026: Convening the Sector

In November 2025, 175 professionals gathered for the AJR’s international forum Remembering & Rethinking 2025: Teaching and Learning About the Holocaust. Numerous conversations over two days addressed the challenges faced in Holocaust education and showcased good practice. The AJR also previewed a research and evaluation project examining the impact of Holocaust education in the UK as well as the strategies, objectives and concerns of key organisations.

A year later, it’s time to move those conversations forward.

At this year’s forum, we will launch the findings and recommendations from this research project and, critically, ask colleagues to consider the ways in which this can inform our work.

More so than in previous years, the emphasis will be on small group discussions, but of course we will also use the opportunity to have plenary sessions which showcase noteworthy scholarship, programmes and resources.

If you work in the Holocaust education and remembrance sector, your participation in these discussions will be vital.

The AJR itself is taking a hard look at the research findings, and we expect to adapt our educational grant funding programme accordingly. We welcome your input into our future direction.

An optional tour of the Holocaust Centre North’s permanent exhibition will take place at 10.30am on 6 October.

About the AJR

The AJR is the organisation in the UK which brings together institutions from across the Holocaust remembrance and education sector. As the nation’s leading dedicated funder of Holocaust educational programmes, we have relationships with dozens of key organisations in the field. These partnerships are centred on a fundamental principle: that we must all be willing to share our learning. Which educational approaches work, and which do not? What are the emerging trends and challenges that impact upon our shared mission? Where are there mutually beneficial opportunities to uplift the work of other organisations, to share resources and share credit?

Registration fee – £25.00

Registration fee PLUS one-year introductory AJR membership – £40.00

The registration fee includes lunch and refreshments on both days and an evening reception on 6 October. Travel and accommodation is not included.

A separate CPD event organised by Holocaust Centre North will be held on 8 October for teachers and Holocaust educators. Further details about this will be posted shortly.
